Sikh Golden in a Frame – Silhouette

Hey folks, hope you’ve all be doing great! As you’ve seen in my portraits, I always try to get a unique DOF and Frame without caring for a POV and so happens in my other shots as well.

This time I went to Amritsar, I had decided that I would definitely seek a framing or a POV that that no one had ever tried (atleast the ones that I know of) and I almost got it.

They have stopped allowing people to take a tripod inside the Golden Temple (seems like they will soon stop photography too) and so I had to take this shot with camera handheld; little knowing that when I will process it – there will be a ton of people in the frame accidentally diverting the attention from the main subject.

Took me 2 hours of Manipulation with over 70 layers in PS to get everybody out of the frame and here it is – something different!

Multiple Exposure Portrait

It was a very cold morning but eventually the sun came out. I was in Amritsar for some personal work when we decided to skip the regular mustard fields and try shooting between dry poplar trees instead. Of-course I do not dare to introduce my brother Batti whose photos I usually click and post.

Portraits apart – multiple exposure was something that immediately struck in my mind at that time and so we moved on with that!

This multiple exposure photo was clicked on a tripod with the regular camera flash in manual mode. Argh!! I just want to buy a wireless trigger and a speed-light on a stand that I can keep anywhere and get crystal clear exposures throughout my photo.

Then edited these in Photoshop CS5 with selective coloring for Batti and the Sky.

Clicked this recently on a busy street of Amritsar. He was busy sleeping on the rear of his auto-rickshaw being taken home after school. I sneaked in and tried to click a few shots secretly when he woke up and gave me this expression!

Found this daily wage worker by the road side in Amritsar recently. He sure looked like a “Serial Killer” – just kidding! Albeit here sure was in the company of one – A Cigarette!

As usual – keep on getting clicked, he also suggested me to take pictures of his fellow who was a Riackshaw puller and standing on the opposite corner of the road awaiting a customer.

Well not exactly lol. He sure got irked on my repeated clicking (hope you didn’t read it as licking :p) all over his face… Shot this recently on a busy street in Amritsar, North India.

Just improved the exposure and white balance of this photo – else its straight out of the camera. yes 50mm 1.4 sure bring uniqueness and beauty in portraits.

I still remember that Sunny day when my friend Kuber Joshi was here in Chandigarh and we decided to go for a photo-shoot. It was an amateur shoot with absolutely no softbox’s, flash lights or crew – I totally relied on direct sunlight at it was almost 12:30 when we reached the location.

Don’t really know what he was trying to do in this photo albeit it sure looks different – so sharing the same!

Little Poor Indian Girl Portrait

She was sitting by a roadside tea stall busy cleaning a dish. It seemed that she was totally enjoying it and that dish was the only one she had. It was her father’s stall and she was there after school awaiting to go home with her mother.

I had sneaked in very close behind her and clicked this on the moment she looked back into the lens. I still remember the naughty smile she gave looking at her mother as if she was saying “Paparazzi… Eh!”

Old Man from Billing, Himachal Pradesh

Saw this old man sitting by the roadside awaiting his daily to-home bus! He was with his fellow and as usual chatting over the news.

Another thing that I have noticed is that people who knowingly have their photos clicked at the run should be rewarded too! They always want their photos in print which never happens. A regular traveler just passes by – clicks photos just to be deleted or rot in his/her hard-drive.

If not for everyone – one can surely carry an Instax Camera and give ever lasting memories to the local people!

Shy Himachali Womam Portrait

Clicked this Shy Woman in Bir Billing District of Himachal Pradesh in North India. Bir, surrounded by tea gardens and an amphitheatre of low hills, is an ideal landing ground for para-gliders. Billing, up in the hills 14 km from Bir with an arena of 200 km for high altitude and cross country flying, is one of the best aero sports sites in India.

This photo was clicked at the top of a Mountain – just next to a Paragliding Jump Point. She was wish her son and 2 lambs – we played around a lot with them.
